Vesugen is a short peptide of three amino acids: Lys-Glu-Asp. Papers write it as KED, and some code it T-38. Some Russian papers spell it vezugen. We supply it as a 20MG lyophilized research vial.

Vesugen comes from the same St Petersburg short-peptide program as epitalon and pinealon. Its developers link it to the cardiovascular system. It differs from Cartalax (Ala-Glu-Asp) only at the first amino acid.

What the research covers

Most vesugen work uses tissue explants and cell cultures. PubMed holds about 40 relevant records. More than 30 are tied to one St Petersburg institute and its partners. About half are in Russian. We found no study clearly independent of that network.

  • Rat spleen, skin and pineal explants.
  • Thymus cells, fibroblasts and stem cells in culture.
  • Mouse neuron cultures and a transgenic mouse line.

In a 2014 study, T-38 was added to aging vascular cell cultures. The authors reported higher Ki-67, lower p53 and less of the adhesion molecule E-selectin (Khavinson et al., 2014). A 2012 study of rat skin explants reported that T-38 markedly raised cell proliferation in tissue from old rats (Voicekhovskaya et al., 2012).

In human fibroblast cultures, vesugen raised the expression of two differentiation factors, CXCL12 and WEGC1. The effect was stronger in aged cultures (Khavinson et al., 2012).
