Research Overview
Adamax vs Semax compares a documented peptide with an undocumented one. Semax is the heptapeptide Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro: the adrenocorticotropic hormone fragment ACTH(4-7) joined to a Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide that adds resistance to peptidases. It is described as having no hormonal activity and is included in Russia's list of vital and essential drugs (Radchenko et al., 2025). Adamax, sold under the code DW 1032, has no peer-reviewed structure and no published study. Supplier descriptions present it as a modified Semax, and they disagree on the modification.
No study has compared Adamax with Semax, so nothing published supports a claim that Adamax is stronger, longer-lasting or better. Disguised Alpha supplies Semax as a lyophilized vial (current lot labeled 10 mg) and as a Semax Aerosol Kit (vial, saline and an empty spray bottle), and Adamax (DW 1032) as a lyophilized vial (current lot labeled 10 mg) and as Adamax Aerosol Spray (DW 1032), pre-formulated at 1MG/ML in 10ML, for laboratory research use only. Nothing on this page is guidance for use in people.
Structure and Class
Semax has a defined identity: Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro with a free amino terminus and a C-terminal acid (PubChem CID 9811102). Its product page lists C37H51N9O10S and 813.94 g/mol. Papers describe it both as ACTH(4-7) joined to Pro-Gly-Pro (Radchenko et al., 2025) and as an analog of ACTH(4-10) (Dolotov et al., 2006a).
Adamax does not. Its two product pages give no sequence, formula or molecular weight. PubChem has no compound record for Adamax; one vendor-deposited substance record (SID 513899171) lists it as a synonym of Ac-Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro-Ala-Gly-OH, an N-acetylated nine-residue peptide containing the Semax sequence, without a standardized structure. Other supplier listings describe an N-acetylated Semax carrying an adamantane group. None of these is peer-reviewed, so this page assigns Adamax no structure; each lot's certificate is its identity record.
N-terminal acetylation changed how Semax binds copper(II) and removed the protection against copper toxicity in SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells that the authors tied to its free amino terminus (Magrì et al., 2016). All of these supplier descriptions of Adamax start from an N-acetylated Semax, so Semax data cannot be assumed to carry over.

Research Context: Semax
Tritium-labeled Semax bound rat basal forebrain membranes specifically, with a dissociation constant of about 2.4 nM, and nasal application raised BDNF protein in the basal forebrain at 3 hours but not in the cerebellum (Dolotov et al., 2006a). In rat hippocampus, one application raised BDNF protein up to 1.4-fold and trkB tyrosine phosphorylation 1.6-fold (Dolotov et al., 2006b). Model: rats.
After permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion in rats, immune-system genes made up over half of the genes Semax altered at 24 hours (Medvedeva et al., 2014). In APPswe/PS1dE9 transgenic mice, Semax and a two-substitution derivative, Met-Glu-Asp-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, both brought several behavioral measures closer to wild-type values and cut cortical amyloid plaque counts at 7.5 months of age, 2.8-fold and 1.6-fold respectively (Radchenko et al., 2025). Models: rats and mice.
After nasal application of tritium-labeled Semax to rats, labeled material reached the brain within 2 minutes, about 80% of it intact Semax, and the peptide was then degraded rapidly, with Pro-Gly-Pro predominating (Shevchenko et al., 2006). Incubated with nerve cells, Semax was broken down mainly to His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro and Pro-Gly-Pro (Zolotarev et al., 2006). Human data are research history only: a resting-state fMRI study of 24 healthy volunteers given Semax or placebo by nasal application reported a larger medial frontal subcomponent of the default mode network in the Semax group (Lebedeva et al., 2018).
An FDA page on bulk drug substances that may present significant safety risks (content current as of 22 April 2026) lists Semax (heptapeptide) among substances previously in category 2 whose nominations were withdrawn by the nominators. Its entry cites a possible risk of immunogenicity for certain routes due to the potential for aggregation and peptide-related impurities, and says the agency lacks sufficient information to know whether it would cause harm in humans.
Research Context: Adamax
A PubMed search for "Adamax" on 12 October 2026 returned 39 records: 38 are machine-learning papers that use the name for an optimization method, and one uses "ADAmax" for an antibody measurement. None concerns a peptide. On the same date, PubMed found no record containing the phrase DW 1032, and the searches Semax AND Adamax and Semax AND adamantane returned no records.
Two published modified forms of Semax are not Adamax: Ac-Semax, compared with Semax in metal chemistry and in a neuroblastoma cell line (Magrì et al., 2016), and the Met-Glu-Asp-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro derivative tested in transgenic mice (Radchenko et al., 2025). They show that changing Semax changes what is measured; they say nothing about Adamax.
Choosing Between Them for a Research Question
A question that needs a defined molecule and published precedent in a named model points to Semax, whose record runs from rat neurotrophin work (Dolotov et al., 2006a) to copper chemistry (Tomasello et al., 2025). Adamax fits questions about Adamax itself, such as characterizing what a lot contains.
Side-by-side work starts with identity. Confirm each lot's mass by mass spectrometry: arms cannot be matched in moles without a confirmed formula for Adamax, while one milligram of Semax holds about 1.23 µmol. Run both in the same vehicle, include a vehicle arm, and measure stability in the study medium, since Semax was degraded rapidly in rat brain and blood and by nerve cells (Shevchenko et al., 2006; Zolotarev et al., 2006). Compare vial with vial: the two spray formats are not matched for vehicle or concentration.
Handling and Storage
Both vials ship lyophilized, and their product pages list -20°C for the powder as shipped and 2 to 8°C after reconstitution, protected from light, with freeze/thaw cycles avoided. The Adamax Aerosol Spray arrives pre-formulated and needs no reconstitution; its page lists 15 to 25°C unopened and 2 to 8°C once opened, upright, closed and protected from light, never frozen. The Semax Aerosol Kit page says to reconstitute the vial with the included saline and keep the prepared solution in the refrigerator.
Semax's N-terminal methionine oxidizes readily, so limit air, light and oxidizers, and because Semax pulls copper(II) from copper-amyloid-β species (Tomasello et al., 2025), trace metals or chelators can change what is in solution. With no public structure for Adamax, assume nothing about its stability beyond its product pages. Aliquot single-use volumes, record each lot number and use the measured content from the COA portal, not the label amount.
Questions Researchers Ask
Adamax vs Semax: what is the difference?
Semax is a defined heptapeptide, Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, studied in rats (Dolotov et al., 2006b), transgenic mice (Radchenko et al., 2025) and an imaging study of healthy volunteers (Lebedeva et al., 2018). Adamax has no peer-reviewed structure or study; supplier descriptions present it as a modified Semax.
Is Adamax stronger than Semax?
No study has tested that. PubMed holds no study of Adamax and no comparison with Semax, so there is no published basis for calling Adamax stronger, longer-lasting or better.
Is Adamax the same as Semax?
Not as described. The supplier descriptions found add an N-terminal acetyl group and then two extra residues, an adamantane group or both, and they disagree.
Is Semax an approved drug?
Not in the United States: Drugs@FDA lists no application for Semax (searched 12 October 2026), and an FDA page lists it among withdrawn compounding nominations formerly in category 2. Semax is included in Russia's list of vital and essential drugs (Radchenko et al., 2025). Disguised Alpha's Semax is research material, not that medicine.
Semax, Adamax and their spray formats are supplied strictly for laboratory and in-vitro research use. They are not for human consumption, veterinary use, or any diagnostic or therapeutic application. Nothing on this page is guidance for use in people.
